Citizenship no longer required to be CA peace officer
SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco Police Division now not requires peace officer candidates to be U.S. residents, in accordance with officers.
A brand new legislation written by East Bay Sen. Nancy Skinner repeals the requirement for California Peace Officers to be residents. Senate Invoice 960 now permits anybody who’s legally in a position to work within the U.S., no matter their nationality.
Officers stated this transformation was carried out due to “the necessity to entice candidates from all communities and permit them to serve the native areas they dwell in.”
SFPD stated inclusivity is a precedence of theirs and the brand new adjustments are an instance of such.
