California fireworks show likely sparked hotel rooftop blaze

A well-known Southern California fireworks show seemingly sparked a small blaze Friday atop a historic inn’s roof, officers stated.

No accidents have been reported within the hearth, which occurred on the roof of the Mission Inn Resort and Spa in Riverside, in accordance with Battalion Chief Pat Hopkins.

The fireworks show started round 5:30 p.m. Friday and the blaze was reported about six minutes later by firefighters with hoses who have been already on the resort’s rooftop as a precaution, Hopkins stated. The extent of the harm was not instantly clear.

The Mission Inn is a Nationwide Historic Landmark and its roots date again to 1876 when it was an adobe boardinghouse, in accordance with the inn’s web site. The fireworks show kicked off the thirtieth anniversary of the inn’s vacation celebration referred to as the “Pageant of Lights.”

The town of Riverside is about 55 miles (88 kilometers) east of downtown Los Angeles.
