VP Kamala Harris to visit Tonopah for groundbreaking of energy project

Vice President Kamala Harris is making a visit to Maricopa County on Jan. 19 to focus on federal efforts to create a “clear power financial system.”

Harris might be in Tonopah for the groundbreaking of the Ten West Hyperlink Transmission Line, an power infrastructure mission meant to attach energy grids in Arizona and California. 

“The brand new 500kV energy line will enhance transmission system effectivity and reliability whereas facilitating the event of latest renewable power and power storage sources in Arizona and California,” reads a press release from the mission’s web site.

The vice chairman might be joined by Secretary of the Inside Deb Haaland and Division of Vitality Secretary Jennifer Granholm.

Tonopah is about 50 miles west of Phoenix.
