A human skull was donated to an Arizona Goodwill in a box full of other items this week — shocking employees who made the grisly discovery.

The skull was confirmed to be real and human after an employee of the thrift store location in Goodyear called police to investigate Tuesday.

Officers showed up and removed the skeletal remains which they then brought to a medical examiner’s office in case it was linked to a missing persons case.

The medical examiner determined that the skull is human, however, investigators do not expect foul play was involved, a spokesperson for the Goodyear Police Department said.

“It appears to be historic, ancient and does not appear to have any forensic value at all,” said the police’s public information officer Lisa Berry. “And what that means is that no crime is attached to this skull.”

It’s unknown who donated the human skull that was causally packed among other items in the donation bin.
