Contreras Fire: New fire scorches thousands of acres in southern Arizona
SELLS, Ariz. – Hearth crews are battling a brand new wildfire in southern Arizona that has already scorched hundreds of acres.
The Contreras Hearth is burning in a distant space of the Tohono O’odham nation southwest of Tucson and sparked on June 11.
It lies on a ridge of the Baboquivari Mountain vary 20 miles east of Sells, Arizona.
As of June 15, the fireplace is greater than 6,600 acres in measurement and is 0% contained.
Firefighters say it isn’t threatening close by communities, and there is not any phrase on how the fireplace began.
“The fireplace grew to the north.
