Southeast Alaska high school a finalist in national Vans design competition
WRANGELL, Alaska (KTUU) – It’s a giant accomplishment for a small Southeast Alaska city — and a few candy kicks besides. Wrangell Excessive College has made it into the highest 5 of a nationwide model’s footwear competitors.
The Vans Excessive College Customized Tradition competitors awards the highest 5 collaborating excessive faculties cash for his or her artwork packages as a means to attract consideration to fleeting arts training budgets. The competitors: design two pairs of footwear with a “Hometown Delight” theme.
Wrangell’s music and artwork instructor, Tasha Morse, determined to enter the competitors after seeing her college students’ pleasure about it. Morse admitted she didn’t suppose something would actually come of it after submitting the appliance.
“These items don’t occur in small cities,” Morse stated.

“I’ll be proud of fifth place, like, that’s phenomenal,” Morse stated. “That’s greater than I ever thought. … It feels utterly surreal.”
