I’m a 12-year-old Athabascan attending Anchorage STrEaM Academy. I’m writing as a result of I would like extra illustration of Alaska Native tradition in class. For instance, possibly colleges may go to the Alaska Native Heritage Middle or educate it as a lesson.

I’m upset that there’s little to no illustration of Alaska Native tradition in class. As I’m wanting round this room, there may be zero illustration of Native tradition.

How am I imagined to know something about my tradition when I’m by no means taught about it in class? Sure, my mom teaches me about my Koyukon Athabascan tradition, however the faculty may too. The one time I’ve ever been taught Alaska Native tradition in class was within the fourth grade.
