BLM AFS first awarded three Kind 2 crew contracts based mostly in rural Alaska villages for the 2020 Alaska Hearth Season for faster response to wildfires inside the BLM AFS safety space, which covers 191.5 million acres within the northern half of the state. These three crews averaged 61 days on fireplace assignments in both Alaska or the Decrease 48 in 2020 and 66 days on a hearth in 2021. Different crews are:

  • The Okay-River 1 and Okay-River 2 fireplace crews contracted by SES Hearth based mostly in Huslia. These two crews have meeting factors in Huslia, Hughes and Allakaket.
  • The CATG Crew, contracted by the Fort Yukon-based Council of Athabascan Tribal Governments, with meeting factors of Arctic Village, Venetie and Fort Yukon.

The contract crews adhere to nationwide {qualifications} for Kind 2 hand crews and might be ordered for wildfire response in Alaska and the Decrease 48.
