Firefighters have contained a blaze within the Southwest Alaska village of Kasigluk that burned three buildings, together with a college constructing, in line with the Alaska Division of Forestry.
Air tankers and smokejumpers responded to the hearth, which the division mentioned Thursday is now not a risk.
“The tanker dumped retardant to assist comprise the hearth, which had unfold south, scorching about 5 acres of tundra. As a result of vegetation close to the buildings was sparse, there was little unfold inside the village,” the division mentioned in a press release.
