KETCHIKAN, Alaska (AP) — The state of Alaska has offered the ferry named Malaspina to a enterprise group in a deal geared toward giving the ship a brand new life and stopping it from being scrapped.

The Malaspina, in-built 1963, was one of many unique ferries within the state’s ferry fleet. It was moored in late 2019 after the state transportation division mentioned the vessel would not sail as a part of the fleet once more due to its age and the price of wanted repairs.
