It's a ‘confirmed hatch’: Big Bear bald eagles welcome 3rd chick
Three’s a crowd!
Famous Big Bear bald eagles Jackie and Shadow officially welcomed their third eaglet early Saturday morning, according to Friends of Big Bear Valley, which operates a live camera feed of the birds’ nest.
“Egg 3 hatched at 2:11 a.m.,” FOBBV said on Instagram Saturday morning. “It is a ‘confirmed hatch’ only when the hatchling has emerged from its shell completely.”
This eaglet’s first pip was spotted Thursday, according to FOBBV Executive Director Sandy Steers.
Its two older siblings — who were both born earlier this week — are already being tended to by their mother and father, who continue to diligently take turns guarding the nest and keeping their new offspring warm and safe.
Frequently asked questions about Jackie and Shadow, including how to tell the difference between the two, can be found here.
