Gunfire erupts near car crash site in Ladera Heights

Shots rang out near the site of a collision between two vehicles in Ladera Heights Friday afternoon. 

According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, first responders were dispatched to the area South Fairfax Avenue and Stocker Street shortly before 3 p.m. 

Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters discovered one person trapped inside one of the vehicles involved in the crash.

Their condition and the conditions of other victims at the scene remain unknown. One victim was transported to a nearby hospital, according to fire officials, but it is unclear whether that victim was the one extricated from the vehicle.

Police were able to confirm that someone sustained at least one gunshot wound at the scene. 

It is currently unknown what caused the initial crash or prompted the shooting.
