2 suspects arrested after Lucerne Valley Market parking lot shooting
Deputies arrested two suspects after a shooting took place at a San Bernardino County supermarket parking lot.
The sheriff’s department said deputies responded to a report of attempted murder outside of Lucerne Valley Market located on Highway 18 around 4:52 p.m. on Friday.
Investigators learned that a man was in the parking lot when he was approached by two suspects, Jaime Esparza, 44, and Amanda Miller, 41, both Lucerne Valley residents.
Details are limited in what the motive was behind the attack. However, the sheriff’s department did note that the man, whose identity was not provided, knew Esparza and Miller.
Miller reportedly used a hammer to start breaking the windows of the man’s truck while Esparza threatened the man and brandished a handgun.
In fear for his safety, the victim quickly reversed his truck and crashed into the pickup truck that the suspects were driving.
Esparza then allegedly fired a round at the man’s truck while he drove away.
Authorities arrested Esparza for attempted murder, and Miller for vandalism over $400.
Both suspects were booked at the High Desert Detention Center, according to the sheriff’s department.
Deputies say this investigation is ongoing and ask anyone with information to contact Deputy K. Konior at Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station, 760-552-6800.
