West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine to celebrate 50th anniversary

PARKERSBURG — The West Virginia College of Osteopathic Drugs will have a good time its fiftieth anniversary throughout a reception from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday on the Parkersburg Nation Membership in Vienna.

The occasion will embrace a presentation by James W. Nemitz, president of the College of Osteopathic Drugs. Nemitz will talk about the medical faculty’s accomplishments, its financial influence and the variety of graduates who follow within the Central West area. The varsity has areas in Lewisburg, Charleston, Huntington, Parkersburg, Bridgeport, Wheeling and Martinsburg.

The varsity was established in Lewisburg in 1972, first because the personal Greenbrier School of Osteopathic Drugs within the former Greenbrier Army College.

The varsity went from personal to public and was renamed the College of Osteopathic Drugs in 1976.

Nemitz is the seventh president of the college, having taken workplace in July 2018. He was the vice chairman for administration and exterior relations for eight years and is a tenured professor of anatomy.
