The North Carolina Tar Heels still have three scholarships to fill for the 2023-24 college basketball and they will likely try to fill one of those spots through the transfer portal.
Hubert Davis and his staff have already landed four transfers for the roster and a fifth could be coming down the line. Earlier in the week a new report surfaced that the Tar Heels were interested in a West Virginia player that is currently in the transfer portal and has reached out to him.
Per The Portal Report, the Tar Heels are among the teams that have reached out to former Mountaineers power forward James Okonkwo.
West Virginia transfer James Okonkwo tells TPR he has heard from the following:

Along with UNC, programs like UConn, LSU, Nebraska, and Texas A&M among others have also shown interest.
The 6-foot-8, 210-pound Okonkwo entered the transfer portal last week after Bob Huggins resigned. He averaged 2.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 11 minutes per game in his first season with the program. He appeared in 31 total games last season.
