Kansas State basketball travels to Morgantown, West Virginia, on Tuesday to face West Virginia in its first Big 12 road game at WVU Coliseum.
The Wildcats are 11-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference after beating Central Florida, 77-52, on Saturday, while West Virginia (5-9, 0-1) lost its conference opener at No. 2-ranked Houston.
West Virginia, the only team in the Big 12 with a losing record, is a much different team now than the one that started the season. Starting guards RaeQuan Battle, Noah Farrakhan and Kerr Kriisa have only played a handful of games since becoming eligible, and Georgetown transfer forward Akok Akok missed seven games with an injury.
Battle (Washington, Montana State) and Farrakhan (East Carolina, Eastern Michigan) were held up by the old two-time transfer rule, while Kriisa was suspended the first nine games for improper benefits while at Arizona. Battle is averaging 21.5 points, Farrakhan 14.2 points and Kriisa 9.4 points and 5.8 assists.

The Mountaineers are without forward Jesse Edwards (14.8 ppg, 8.7 rebounds), who broke his wrist on Dec. 16. Iona transfer forward Quinn Slazinski, the only player to start all 14 games, averages 15 points.
West Virginia interim head coach Josh Eilert is a Kansas State graduate and was a graduate assistant with the Wildcats under Bob Huggins in 2006-07, before following him to Morgantown the following year.
Cam Carter averages 16.2 points, Tylor Perry 15.7 points and 5.4 assists, and Arthur Kaluma 15.1 points and 8.4 rebounds for K-State.

Tent blows over during a WVU baseball game weather delay
The school said five people were injured after heavy winds blew an event tent over.
Multiple West Virginia baseball fans were injured during Saturday’s Morgantown Super Regional between the Mountaineers and Cal Poly.
A spokesperson for West Virginia Athletics confirmed to USA TODAY Sports on Saturday that several fans sustained injuries during a weather delay after heavy winds blew an event tent over at an adjacent parking lot to Wagener Field at Kendrick Family Ballpark in Morgantown, West Virginia.
“WVU would like to thank the immediate response of EMS, law enforcement and fire first responders who immediately secured the area and treated the injured spectators. While it was a great day for Mountaineer baseball, all of Mountaineer Nation’s thoughts are with those who were involved,” the statement read.
Saturday’s game between the Mountaineers and Mustangs was delayed in the eighth inning for over an hour and a half due to weather in the area, which included thunderstorms and lightning. The statement said five people were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
“We have confirmed through the University Police Department that five people were transported for treatment. We have been in touch with health care providers in the area to ensure those affected are supported in their recovery,” the statement said.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), West Virginia athletic director Wren Baker asked for prayers for the fans who were injured.
On the field, No. 16 West Virginia defeated Cal Poly 17-1 to finish off the sweep of the Morgantown Super Regional and advance to the program’s first College World Series. Ben Lumsden and Tyrus Hall hit back-to-back home runs as part of the Mountaineers’ seven-run second inning.
West Virginia is set to open up play at the College World Series against Troy either Friday, June 12 or Saturday, June 13. The NCAA has not released official start times and dates for the CWS.

West Virginia took game one from Cal Poly 12-2 on Friday and will look to end the series today and punch their ticket to Omaha. The Mustangs are hoping to live another day and force a decisive game three on Sunday.

OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. — West Virginia Rep. Riley Moore announced Friday afternoon that he helped secure more than $13 million in Transportation, Housing and Urban Development funding for the state, including $6 million for the Oglebay Grow Center and grounds in Ohio County.
According to a news release from Moore’s office, the funding will help expand hydroponic food production and improve access to locally grown food.
“These community project funding requests represent targeted investments in the infrastructure and economic development priorities that matter most to the people of West Virginia’s Second District,” Moore said in the release.
The funding was approved by the House Appropriations Committee and still needs approval from the full House of Representatives.
