Half of state’s counties under weather watch – WV MetroNews

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Severe storms could interrupt Memorial Day weekend plans.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for 28 West Virginia counties until Sunday night.

A watch means conditions are favorable for severe storms.

The counties included in a watch until 8 p.m. are Cabell, Mason, Wayne, Jackson, Lincoln and Putnam.

Counties under a watch until 9 p.m. are Boone, Braxton, Calhoun, Clay, Fayette, Gilmer, Greenbrier, Kanawha, Logan, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Monroe, Nicholas, Pleasants, Raleigh, Ritchie, Roane, Summers, Wirt, Wood and Wyoming counties.
