Henley Excessive Marching Band performs in Nationwide Memorial Day Parade

The Henley Excessive College Band marched within the 2022 Nationwide Memorial Day Parade Might 30 on Structure Avenue in Washington D.C.

Jaidin Hulsey, a senior who performs saxophone within the band, referred to as collaborating within the parade “a wide ranging” expertise. “We marched down Structure Avenue, previous the Nationwide Mall, and proper subsequent to the monuments we now have seen so many instances on TV,” she stated. “One of many issues that caught with me most was that usually, after we march in parades, the individuals watching cheer for Henley Excessive College as we stroll by. The band was invited to take part after being nominated in 2019 by Gov. Kate Brown for the 2021 parade, stated Katherine Garvin, Henley’s band director. When the pandemic closed colleges, the varsity as a substitute secured a nomination for the 2022 occasion. Garvin believes the nomination was due to the band’s third-place end within the Starlight Parade through the 2019 Rose Pageant in Portland.
