Leaders with Habitat for Humanity heading to Washington D.C. for the 2024 Habitat on the Hill
GRAND FORKS — Leaders with Habitat for Humanity are gearing up for the 2024 Habitat on the Hill in Washington D.C.
Habitat on the Hill is an annual conference where habitat leaders meet with senators from their state to discuss policies that can provide more funding for the 2024 and 2025 fiscal year.
This year, Executive Director Marisa Sauceda from the Red River Valley Habitat for Humanity will be the only person representing North Dakota at the event.
She plans to talk to them about three polices. The first two programs are the Self-Help Homeownership Opportunity Program and the HOME Investment Partnerships Program.
“Those two programs provide funding to low income households looking to enter into home ownership and the organizations that help them enter into home ownership, like Habit for Humanity,” Sauceda said.
As well as the USDA Rural Development Program.
“We need that funding to kind of develop the rural side of the state. Especially as our economy increases, we need to be housing the people who are working to increase our state’s economy,” Sauceda said.
