Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit was the occasion for some memorable moments in Washington this week.

President Joe Biden mistakenly placed his hand on his heart for the Indian national anthem, “Squad” Democrats boycotted Modi’s congressional speech, and Hunter Biden showed up at the White House state dinner after facing federal criminal charges.

Beyond the controversy, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) found Modi’s joint address to Congress on Thursday a reason to unite happily. Manchin, 75, gave Pelosi, 83, a warm embrace in the House chamber and a kiss on the cheek.
