International IDEA inaugurates its office in Washington, D.C.

On the Worldwide Day of Democracy, 15 September 2022, the Workplace of Worldwide IDEA in Washington, D.C. was inaugurated by Worldwide IDEA’s Secretary-Normal Dr Kevin Casas-Zamora.

In his remarks, the Secretary-Normal famous that Washington, D.C. performs a key position within the international efforts to guard and reinvigorate democracy. By its presence within the metropolis, the Institute aspires to contribute to debates on democracy in the US and make its comparative information and experience much more accessible to these discussions. Worldwide IDEA additionally hopes to leverage its position as a world intergovernmental group and act as a bridge between the democracy ecosystems in Europe and the USA but in addition between the World North and the World South. As a part of the Washington, D.C. neighborhood, Worldwide IDEA seeks to strengthen its collaboration with U.S.-based democracy organizations and, along with companions, make the case for democracy at this vital time. The Workplace in Washington, D.C. is positioned on the Open Authorities Hub and is led by Dr Annika Silva-Leander, the previous lead writer of Worldwide IDEA’s World State of Democracy Report and head of the Democracy Evaluation Programme. She is supported by Amanda Sourek in New York and Elisenda Balleste-Buxo in Stockholm.
