Higgins, Comer, and Greene Send Letter to DC Mayor Demanding Accountability for Pre-Trial Detainees

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA), Chairman James Comer (R-KY), and Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) despatched a letter on behalf of the Oversight Committee to DC Mayor Muriel Bowser to demand accountability for the remedy and holding of January 6 pre-trial detainees. 

“These People have been held with out bond underneath probably the most horrific situations for two years. Solitary confinement, abuse, denied entry to communication, denied skill to meaningfully take part in their very own protection, denied entry to discovery, denied entry to prescribed drugs, starved, overwhelmed, tortured. By God, their struggling shall be revealed, and their persecutors shall be held to account. The oppressors will face justice… DC authorities, FBI, DOJ… all of them.” 

“The Committee is anxious by stories that January 6 detainees are going through a novel type of mistreatment as a result of their politics and beliefs, representing potential a number of human rights abuses,” writes the Committee.
