Bears 101-year-old matriarch Virginia McCaskey is among those being considered for the Pro Football Hall of Fame as contributors to the game.

The team’s owner is on a list with 24 others to be voted on in the Hall of Fame process. McCaskey has been the team’s owner since 1983, with the death of when her father, Bears founder George Halas.

The list of potential contributors to the game being considered includes:

• Former Titans/Oilers owner Bud Adams

• NFL Films voiceJohn Facenda

• Eagles-Cowboys-Redskins former player personnel and scout Bucko Kilroy

• Otho Davis, a trainer for the Colts and Eagles

• Eddie Kotal, a black colleges scout

• Lee Remmel, former Packers PR director

• Grambling State coach Eddie Robinson

• Jerry Seeman, a former NFL official

• Amy Trask, former Raiders CEO

• Jim Tunney, a former official

• John Wooten, the former Cowboys pro scouting director

• Seymour Siwoff, former NFL statistician

• Redskins QB Doug Williams.

The list will be cut down to 20 and then later this month a vote will reduce it to nine semifinalists.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame earlier this year revised bylaws starting with the next class. Among the changes was the split of the coach/contributor category so they are now separate categories. Both coach and contributor categories will send nominees to a Blue-Ribbon Committee and one finalist will be chosen to be voted on by electors.

HAYMARKET, Va. – An investigation continues Wednesday into a massive home explosion in Virginia that completely destroyed a house in Haymarket. The blast displaced two families but miraculously, four adults and two children escaped unharmed. However, some family pets remain missing.

Firefighters responded to the 5900 block of Colby Hunt Court in Haymarket just after 4 p.m. Tuesday for a suspected gas leak. They evacuated the home and several others as a precaution. About an hour later, the house exploded.

Jarrett Struniak, one of the displaced residents, told FOX 5 he was renting the home with his fiancée, their 3-year-old daughter, his best friend, his wife, and their son. The household included two dogs and three cats. He said two of the cats remain missing.

Struniak said the homeowner had hired a contractor to fix a water main break, and crews with heavy equipment hit the gas line. The Red Cross is assisting the displaced families, and fire officials said that natural gas service would be turned off to eight nearby homes for up to two days while repairs were made.

Several vehicles were damaged by flying debris from the explosion. The gas company has secured the leak, and officials assure residents there is no further danger. The official cause of the explosion remains under investigation.

EVESHAM TWP., New Jersey (WPVI) — A man was arrested in South Jersey on Tuesday after allegedly killing two people inside his Virginia home.

Authorities say he fled to Burlington County after the murders in attempt to locate his family.

Officers were called to a residence on Kelly Drive in Evesham Township around 2 a.m. Sunday.

Police responded to reports of a man standing outside the home, pointing a firearm at the relative. When officers arrived, the suspect had reportedly fled the area.

Investigators say the suspect was identified as a relative, 49-year-old Amandeep Singh, who allegedly traveled to the scene from Prince William County, Virginia.

Singh was looking for his estranged wife, authorities say.

Police later located Singh in Medford Township on Tuesday. He was found in his vehicle and was arrested without incident, according to investigators.

During the arrest, officers say they found Singh with multiple firearms, including a .40 caliber handgun, an AK47 rifle, and four fully loaded high-capacity magazines.

After being taken into custody, Singh was transported to Virtua Hospital Marlton Campus for evaluation and treatment. Authorities said this was unrelated to his arrest and time in police custody.

At the hospital, Singh allegedly assaulted an Evesham officer by kicking him. The officer was uninjured.

Authorities say a welfare check was later issued for Singh’s home in Virginia. There, police reportedly found two people dead inside the residence.

Virginia law enforcement says the double homicide took place Saturday, the day before Singh arrived in Evesham Township.

Authorities identified the victims as 45-year-old Joshua Lee Davis and 45-year-old Nicole Wanda Lynn Davis. Both died from apparent gunshot wounds, according to police.

Investigators say the victims were married and renting the basement living area of the home.

As a result of the investigation, Singh has been charged with crimes in New Jersey and Virginia.

He was charged with murder, aggravated assault with a firearm, aggravated assault on law enforcement, possession of weapons with unlawful purpose, and other related offenses.
