Southwest and central Virginia schools announce delays, closures amid severe weather

(WFXR) — With extreme climate alerts issued throughout southwest and central Virginia on Friday, numerous college districts have determined to open late or maintain their doorways closed for the day.

Here’s a checklist of faculties across the area which have postponed or canceled operations as of 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Could 27:

Amherst County:

UPDATE: Now that the Twister Warning has been lifted within the space, Amherst County Public Faculties has issued an all clear for secondary colleges, however elementary colleges will stay on a two-hour delay.

Grayson County:

Grayson County Public Faculties can even be closed on Friday, with the district superintendent saying, “This is because of flooding and particles in roads. Today won’t be made up.”

Henry County:
