One injured in officer-involved shooting in Virginia City Highlands

6:22 p.m. Update:

A spokesperson for the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office says there was an officer-involved shooting in the Virginia City Highland Tuesday afternoon.

Reno Police say the unknown suspect was wanted for weapons charges.

When confronted by Reno Police officers in Hidden Valley, the suspect rammed into multiple vehicles and fled the scene. 

Multiple agencies including Reno Police, Nevada Highway Patrol, Washoe County and Storey County followed the suspect near the area of Storey County Fire station 72. 

An officer-involved shooting then occurred.

The suspect was transported via Care Flight to a nearby hospital in unknown condition. 

No officers were injured.

Police activity in Hidden Valley is connected to the police activity in the Virgina City Highlands according to Reno Police.

At around 3:30 p.m., Reno Police and Washoe County deputies responded to the intersection of Mira Loma and Hidden Valley Drives.

Shortly after, Storey County issued a shelter in place order for the Virginia City Highlands but has since been lifted.

There is still heavy police activity in the area of the Virginia City Highlands Fire Station.
