Lawmakers bring education summit to western Virginia

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – Members of the Home and Senate Training Committees wrapped up a two-day summit in western Virginia Friday afternoon.

The lawmakers met at Radford College on Thursday, and on the Lodge Roanoke on Friday.

The session touched on a variety of present points, from scholar assessments to freedom of speech on school campuses.

And among the many final points they tackled was affordability of upper schooling.

“School affordability for me, and for us at Virginia State College, might be an important subject that we’ve, attempting to ensure that we educate younger folks and provides them a possibility to chase their goals,” stated Virginia State College President Dr. Makola Abdullah.

Abdullah stated all the state’s public schools and universities care about affordability.

And he stated he was inspired that lawmakers have been having the dialog throughout their schooling summit.
