WASHINGTON, D.C. — Nearly $14 million is being dispersed among four West Virginia airports with funding from the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program (AIP).
U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced earlier this week that $13,913,818 from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will be handed out for improvements to be made at four West Virginia airports: Greenbrier Valley Airport, Morgantown Municipal Airport, Tri-State Airport, and North Central West Virginia Airport.
“I am pleased DOT is investing more than $13.9 million to improve service, safety and efficiency at four of our airports across West Virginia,” said Senator Manchin. “West Virginia’s airports are our gateways to the rest of the world, and the funding announced today will boost local tourism and spur economic development throughout our great state.
The following amounts of money given to each airport are listed below:
- $8,145,000 to Greenbrier Valley Airport to rehabilitate the runway
- $3,765,647 to Morgantown Municipal Airport (Walter L. Bill Hart Field) to extend the runway
- $1,346,076 to Tri-State Airport (Milton J. Ferguson Field) to update the airport master plan
- $657,095 to North Central West Virginia Airport to construct a terminal building
