Amber Alert: 26-year-old Jaquelyn Hernandez suspected of taking Jazlyn and Jionny Mendez, DPS says

Police believe the 9- and 5-year-olds were abducted in Wilmer, Texas, located along the I-45 corridor southeast of Dallas.

LIVINGSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Texas law enforcement officers are urgently working to reunite two children with their family members after they say someone may have abducted them outside of Dallas.

Authorities triggered an Amber Alert on Monday afternoon for 9-year-old Jazlyn Mendez and 5-year-old Jionny Mendez. According to the alert, police suspect 26-year-old Jaquelyn Hernandez of taking the two children in Wilmer, Texas, a town of 3,600 people along Interstate 45 southeast of Dallas.

The Texas Department of Public Safety added that the children’s last known whereabouts were at about 9 a.m. Monday in the 5900 block of South I-45 in Wilmer.

Authorities didn’t say how the two children are related to Hernandez or each other.

Law enforcement officials disclosed a vehicle description as part of their investigation: a gray 2013 Dodge Challenger bearing Texas license plate TGF1548.

Authorities are urging anyone who has seen the children, Hernandez, or the vehicle to call the Wilmer Police Department at 972-441-6565.
