Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks carted off at practice with leg injury
The Tennessee Titans came into the 2023 NFL offseason very light at the wide receiver position. They eventually made a trade for Pro Bowler DeAndre Hopkins, but they don’t have a ton of depth.
Their plan is to rely on Hopkins and Treylon Burks taking a second-year leap. But on Wednesday, a wrench was thrown into those plans when Burks went down with an apparent leg injury.
Burks initially got up fine, but then was hobbling heavily. He reportedly couldn’t put any weight on his leg and eventually got carted off the practice field. There hasn’t been any confirmation on the exact injury, so the Titans don’t yet know how long they will be without him.
Depth at WR will be tested
The Arkansas product had an underwhelming rookie season in 2022. He struggled with conditioning due to asthma in his first NFL offseason and didn’t play a major role out of the gate.
He suffered a turf toe injury in Week 4 that forced him to miss six games, and he finished the season with 33 catches for 444 yards and one touchdown.
By all accounts, Burks was having a standout camp this summer and was expected to take a big step forward in his development this year.
Hopefully, the injury isn’t severe and Burks can be back in a few weeks. Until then, the Titans will roll with Hopkins, Kyle Philips, Chris Moore and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine as their top four pass-catchers.
