Tennessee mom and Tennessee Senator, Marsha Blackburn attend the State of Union – WBBJ TV

WASHINGTON, D.C.– U.S Senator Marsha Blackburn from Tennessee, spoke alongside a Tennessee mom in D.C., Thursday evening.

Gail Flatt stood proudly beside Senator Blackburn to share her story.

Flatt’s daughter was a victim of online bullying and took her own life at the young age of 14.

In May 2023 Senators Blackburn (TN)  and Blumenthal (CT) worked together and has gained the support of 66 other senators on their “Kids Online Safety Act.”

This act is striving for social media platforms to provide tools for parents, to limit harmful advertising to adolescents, and secure their data while on this platforms.

“To share her story not only with other Tennessee moms and dads and caution kids. But, to come to D.C. to take the, and say we have to do something about these social media platforms because parents don’t know where to turn,” Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn adds.

Lawmakers and organizations across the country are hoping to end online bullying and harassment.
