Tennessee (43-21, 16-14 SEC) opened play in the College World Series on Saturday.
LSU (49-15, 19-10 SEC) defeated the Vols, 6-3, at Charles Schwab Field Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska. 25,010 were in attendance for the contest between two Southeastern Conference teams.
Tennessee will next play Stanford in an elimination-game on Monday in the College World Series. First pitch between the Vols and Cardinal is slated for 2 p.m. EDT and ESPN will televise the matchup.
The Cardinal lost its College World Series opening game to No. 1 Wake Forest, 3-2, on Saturday.
