COLUMBIA — South Carolina football is facing a slew of injury questions entering its first SEC game of 2023 against No. 1 Georgia.

Coach Shane Beamer said Tuesday that no one has been ruled out for the Gamecocks (1-1) in the matchup with the Bulldogs (2-0) on Saturday (3:30 p.m., CBS) in Athens, but everyone with health concerns is questionable. Starting wide receiver Ahmarean Brown is the only player who did not practice Tuesday, but Beamer said he is expected to participate in limited capacity tomorrow.

Brown suffered a right leg injury early in the second quarter against Furman during a punt return. He was helped off of the field by two athletic trainers and was later seen using crutches on the sideline. The senior was also banged up during South Carolina’s Week 1 matchup with North Carolina, failing to finish the game after suffering a rib injury in the second half.

Star safety Nick Emmanwori was unavailable for the Furman game after exiting the UNC game on the opening play with a hamstring injury. Cornerback Marcellus Dial said he expects Emmanwori to play this week, but he is still practicing in limited capacity per Beamer.

Starting defensive back Keenan Nelson Jr. also left last week’s game shortly after Brown with an undisclosed injury and did not return. Beamer said after the Furman game that he expected Nelson to be available this week.

Potential starting defensive end Jatius Geer, backup defensive back David Spaulding and freshman offensive lineman Markee Anderson are questionable this week after all three missed the first two games of the season.
