South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer hosts his last press conference before the Gamecocks take on the Monarchs of Old Dominion.

First and foremost, Coach Beamer was asked about injuries heading into this weekend. As we learned last week, the team is relatively healthy outside of two members on the offensive line.

“He’ll be out,” Coach Beamer speaking on Jakai Moore’s availability for Saturday. “He and Aaryn Parks both. That’ll be a week to week thing for now.”

On the other side of the ball, the defensive line rotation has been a key topic for players and coaches this offseason. Specifically talking about the defensive tackle group, Coach Beamer and defensive coordinator Clayton White have a plan for those guys.

“You’re going to see a deeper rotation than what you had last season. We have more depth and we need to play our guys. We know it’s going to be hot Saturday. Play our players and keep them fresh,” Coach Beamer speaks on his defensive tackle group.

Yesterday, the Gamecocks released a preemptive depth chart for this week. But before conclusions are drawn and hot takes are made, Coach Beamer says it’s not set in stone.

“It’s all personnel driven for us in so many ways, as far as certain plays, certain schemes, how the game’s going,” Coach Beamer said about the released depth chart for week one. “There’s guys that aren’t listed on the depth chart that are going to play a lot on Saturday on offense and defense.”

One of those listed as a backup option for the Gamecocks is running back JuJu McDowell. Though an injury hampered his 2023 season, he’s healthy now and looks to provide a nice change of pace to starter Raheim Sanders.

“JuJu’s [McDowell} a guy that we have confidence in,” Coach Beamer said. “He’s a competitor, he brings great spirit to our team. He knows the offense. We can do a lot of things with him.”

Lastly Coach Beamer took the time to shout out the top player of the preseason. Vershon Lee has been a part of the South Carolina program for the last five seasons. He’s been the “glue” for the offensive line since last season.

“We named Vershon Lee the top performer of the preseason camp. You talk about a guy last year that polayed center, guard, tackle, he had to do it all last season because of the injuries we had on the offensive line. He’s doing a good job of leading the offensive line,” Coach Beamer on naming Vershon Lee the top performer of preseason camp.

South Carolina takes on Old Dominion this Saturday at 4:00 pm.

South Carolina authorities said on Monday that they believe they found missing Massachusetts man Stanley Kotowski’s body “beneath a residence” in the Sea Pines area of Hilton Head, South Carolina.

“At about 11:30 a.m., today, August 26, 2024, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a home in Sea Pines in connection to suspicious activity. Throughout the course of the investigation, the body of a deceased male was located underneath a residence,” the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement posted to Facebook. “It is believed that the deceased male is 60-year-old Stanley Kotowski of Massachusetts. Mr. Kotowski was reported missing on August 16, 2024.”

The sheriff’s office added that his body “was recovered from underneath the home at about 3:30 p.m. this afternoon,” and the county coroner will conduct an autopsy on Tuesday.

Ring doorbell footage released over the weekend shows Kotowski leaving his family’s Hilton Head, South Carolina, rental residence on the same day he disappeared. 

In the video released by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, Kotowski can be seen walking out the front door of the South Sea Pines Drive rental, barefoot, and out into the street on Aug. 16, the same day his family reported him missing.

Kotowski also appears to be confused in the video as he stops walking and looks around in the middle of the street before continuing on. He has not been seen since. 

“We continue to ask for the public’s help locating missing and endangered 60-year-old Stanley Kotowski,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post accompanying the new video. “He was last seen wearing a dark in color, possibly gray, Coors Light t-shirt, dark in color shorts, possibly dark blue or black, and no shoes.”

The Hilton Head community held an organized search for Kotowski on Monday afternoon in cooperation with the sheriff’s office.

His family asked Hilton Head-area residents who may have seen Kotowski to contact authorities and look through their security camera footage for any potential sightings of the missing man. 

“Over the last month, he has been struggling with severe insomnia and has become increasingly anxious,” his wife Jackie wrote on Facebook. “During the week of Aug. 19, Stan became paranoid, thinking that people, including authorities, were pursuing him.”

The family added that the sheriff’s office had been very supportive and “are doing everything in their power to bring Stan home,” including conducting both land and water searches. 

Authorities are asking anyone with information about Kotowski to contact the non-emergency dispatch line at 843-524-2777.

METHUEN, MASS. (WHDH) – A Methuen man who went missing in South Carolina earlier this month was found dead Monday, police said.

At around 11:30 a.m., police responded to a home on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina in connection to suspicious activity, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. During the investigation, a man’s body was discovered underneath a home, police said.

Authorities determined that the man was Stanley Kotowski, 60, of Methuen, who was reported missing on Aug. 16, according to police.

He was last seen when he walked barefoot out of his family’s rental home in Hilton Head. They had been on vacation on the island.

The local sheriff said Kotowski did not bring his phone or wallet with him.

His wife, Jackie Kotowski, said in an interview last week that her husband had insomnia and anxiety.

 “And he started to get a little paranoid. He thought someone was chasing him,” she said in the interview.

Local authorities searched for Kotowski using drones, boats, helicopters, and canines.

Kotowski’s body was removed from underneath the residence at around 3:30 p.m., police said.

The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office is slated to conduct an autopsy Tuesday to determine Kotowski’s manner of death and confirm his identity.
