Sometimes (oftentimes) our Week In Review is more of a week in “preview” – a crystal ball or a harbinger of things to come.

That’s the case this week as we discussed the upcoming sentencing of convicted fraudster Russell Laffitte – a key cog in the financial schemes of convicted killer Alex Murdaugh. Laffitte is scheduled to appear in U.S. district court in Charleston, South Carolina on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 to learn his fate after being found guilty on six counts of financial crimes last November.

As we reported earlier this week, a pre-sentencing report submitted to U.S. district court judge Richard Gergel is recommending Laffitte receive between 9 and 11.5 years in a federal prison for his crimes.

How much time will he actually receive? Watch this week’s episode to find out …

Our show also provided a sneak peek of an interview we conducted with Colleton County clerk of court Becky Hill, who shared some insights from her new book Behind The Doors Of Justice.

Look for the full interview with Hill to air early next week …

Speaking of sneak peeks, this week’s episode also featured an excerpt from our new true crime (and corruption) podcast, FITSFiles – which you can check out on AppleSpotifyGoogle or wherever you download podcasts.

The first two episodes of this show deal with the gruesome Rose Petal Murder – which took place on the morning of October 13, 2021 in a suburban neighborhood in Greer, South Carolina. As we have previously reported, details of this crime were “disturbingly ritualistic.” After inflicting nearly three dozen stab wounds to the head and neck area of the victim – 41-year-old Christina Parcell – the killer allegedly sprinkled rose petals around her body after dragging and posing her in the front living room of a 2,100-square foot home owned by her sister, Tina Parcell.

The twists and turns of this story will blow your mind … and the amazing thing is we haven’t even uncovered the half of it.

Last but not least, we’ve got a political segment featuring a funny moment from a former FITSNews’ alum, U.S. congresswoman Nancy Mace. You definitely won’t want to miss what she had to say earlier this week at a Washington, D.C. prayer breakfast!
