County and community leaders, including South Carolina legislator Rep. Joe Jefferson (D-Berkeley), attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Berkeley County’s new Jefferson Mobile Welding Lab in Moncks Corner on May 5, 2023. Created by Moncks Corner based nonprofit Grace Impact Development Center and paid for with funds secured by Jefferson, the center will travel to rural areas of the county to train welding students under the tutelage of master welders, according to a GIDC press release. RAM Electric’s owner, Ramon Meyers, has worked with this project and created a custom power pole specifically for the lab.
