CSU holds open house for new aeronautics, engineering expansion
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – An aeronautics program has a new home base in the engineering building at Charleston Southern University.
CSU is the only university in South Carolina that provides a four-year program for aeronautics, and faculty said this expansion and installation was needed.
The expansion was completed in the summer and added a simulation room, classrooms and labs.
The program comprises of about 200 students this year, and this new space will benefit them and future students greatly.
“Future people that come to this university, I believe, it will add hands-on experience. It’ll help sharpen our skills and allow for mistakes in a safe environment. So when you get in the cockpit, you are prepared,” Autumn Weaver, a junior in the program, said.
The simulation lab has multiple simulations that imitate driving an aircraft, which gives students more of a hands-on experience.
