19-year-old Lexington man killed in downtown Columbia remembered for his personality

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – A 19-year-old Lexington man who was killed in downtown Columbia is being remembered as a man who had an “exuberant” personality, according to an obituary.

Hudson Chad Schirra died on Friday while crossing the intersection of Blossom and Bull streets. According to the Columbia Police Department Traffic Safety Unit, Schirra was believed to be crossing the road unlawfully.

Columbia Police Department said they continue to conduct interviews regarding the crash.

According to his obituary, Schirra was planning on becoming an electrician.

“He was always the first to say, ‘I love you,’ and if he didn’t hear you say it back, he would say it louder, to be sure you heard him,” his obituary said.

A celebration of life will be held at Radius Church on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. His family asks that contributions be made to Gilbert High School Baseball.
