Mark your calendars because two big SEC football games officially have dates.
The Southeastern Conference announced the Texas Longhorns will play the Georgia Bulldogs on Oct. 19, 2024, and the Oklahoma Sooners will host Alabama on Nov. 23, 2024, during Monday Night Football. Those will be anticipated games for the two newest members of the SEC. The Longhorns will enter the 2024 season coming off a Big 12 championship, with a College Football Playoff result still pending.
Texas and Georgia have only played five times, with the Longhorns winning four of those games. That includes a 28-21 win in the Sugar Bowl in 2018. The Longhorns will have a home advantage, hosting the game at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The Longhorns’ other four SEC home games will be against Florida, Kentucky and Mississippi State.
Oklahoma and Alabama have played six times in football, with the Sooners winning three and the Tide winning two — one game ended in a tie in 1970. Alabama won the most recent meeting 45-34 in the 2018 Orange Bowl.
The remainder of the SEC schedule will be announced Wednesday at 6 p.m. CST on ESPN.
