Oklahoma House and Senate leaders filed a response to Gov. Kevin Stitt’s lawsuit on who has the right to handle compacts with the tribes.

The governor sued after both chambers of the state legislature overwrote a veto on tribal compacts.

In the lawsuit, Gov. Stitt said he has sole authority to extend compacts, however, lawmakers disagreed in Tuesday’s response, saying the courts have ruled that power belongs to the legislature.

Lawmakers said they are now asking the Oklahoma State Supreme Court to throw out the governor’s lawsuit.
