National Civics Bee entry deadline nearing

OKLAHOMA (KSWO) – The State Chamber of Oklahoma, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, and six chambers of commerce across Oklahoma are hosting a statewide civics competition for middle school students.

The event is for students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade to show off their spelling and geography skills while representing their communities.

Finalists will move on to the Oklahoma State Finals, which will be held May 12, 2025. The winner will be awarded a trip to Washington, DC to compete in the national championship in Fall 2025.

To enter, a student must submit an essay that expresses their ideas around using civics to better their community. Essay guidelines and submission details can be found here. The deadline to submit an essay is February 4, 2025.
