Pearl Harbor commemoration events to be hosted on the Battleship North Carolina
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – In remembrance of the Dec. 7, 1941 assault on Pearl Harbor, a number of commemoration occasions will likely be held on the Battleship North Carolina.
From 9 a.m. to five p.m., the Azalea Coast Newbie Radio Membership will host a worldwide HAM radio operator occasion at two stations aboard the battleship.
In keeping with the announcement, HAM operators might contact the ship through voice, digital and morse code at callsign “NI4BK.” Radio operators making contact will obtain a particular postcard verifying the contact.

On Dec. 7, the Mates of the Battleship North Carolina will place almost 200 wreaths on the ship’s lifelines. These “Wreaths of Honor” had been bought by family and friends to honor their veterans and active-duty service members.
In keeping with an announcement from the group, the wreaths will stay on show by way of Jan. 7. Moreover, shortly after 1 p.m., volunteers will observe a second of silence and place wreaths within the ship’s Memorial Room and Crew Roster Room.
