Man charged with DWI after crashing into Durham police officer on NC-55
DURHAM, N.C. — On Sunday at 3 a.m., the Durham Police Division responded to an officer-involved crash within the 3800 block of North Carolina Freeway 55.
The DPD mentioned Officer Christopher Stone was driving southbound on NC Freeway 55. Mikael Younger, 21, of Wake Forest was driving north within the southbound lane when he crashed head-on into Stone.
Stone needed to be extricated from his automotive by the Durham Fireplace Division.
Stone and Younger had been taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening accidents.
Younger has been charged with driving whereas impaired, driving the flawed method on a twin lane freeway and reckless driving.
The southbound lane of NC Freeway 55 between Odyssey Drive and Carpenter Fletcher Street was closed for about 4 hours. The southbound lanes at the moment are open for regular site visitors.
