CHARLOTTE, N.C. – North Carolina junior centerfielder Vance Honeycutt has been the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week for the second time in his career, the league announced Monday.

Honeycutt posted a monster week at the plate, crushing home runs in each of the Tar Heels’ first three games of the week. The Salisbury, North Carolina, native went 6-for-15 at the plate and slashed .400/.500/1.000 with three home runs and eight RBIs. He hit a go-ahead grand slam for the Tar Heels in Tuesday’s win over Elon before recording four more hits against No. 11 East Carolina over the weekend, including the game-winning home run in Friday’s 2-1 victory.

Additionally, Honeycutt became just the second player in UNC history to join the 40 home run and 50 stolen bases club.

North Carolina returns to the diamond Tuesday against VCU to open a five-game homestand. The Tar Heels will host Longwood on Wednesday before welcoming Princeton to Boshamer Stadium for a three-game series starting Friday.
