Three earthquakes rattled parts of Virginia and North Carolina over the past 24 hours in accordance with USGS; the Memorial Day quakes didn’t create any injury nor result in any accidents. At this time’s earthquake in North Carolina was the third of the month. There doesn’t seem like any relationship between the Virginia and North Carolina earthquakes right now.

The primary earthquake struck 15 km south of Louisa, Virginia final evening at 10:03 pm at a depth of 5.5 km. That earthquake was the strongest of the bunch and was ranked a magnitude 2.3 occasion.

At 2:07am this morning, a 1.8 magnitude earthquake struck western North Carolina northwest of Mooresville close to Hickory. 14 folks reported to USGS that they felt the early-morning earthquake.  The shallow  earthquake had a depth of a 3rd of a kilometer.
