Battleship North Carolina replaces old, incorrect switches with 3D printed switches – WWAYTV3
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Battleship North Carolina is receiving a contact up on a part of the ship.
Volunteers with Buddies of the Battleship North Carolina are changing outdated, worn out or incorrect switches with new switches on the Secondary Plot switchboard.
A pattern of the outdated switches had been scanned and recreated utilizing a 3D printer. The swap plate itself needed to be laser etched with the right lettering for every swap place, painted after which put in.
The staff now plans to exchange the switches on the Principal Battery Plot Switchboard.
The entire price to provide the switches was $6,700.00, paid for by the Buddies of the Battleship North Carolina.
