Here are the top three stories in Winston-Salem today:

1. A shooting in Winston-Salem led to the arrest of Rodney Earl Byers Jr., a 39-year-old man, who was identified as a suspect through surveillance footage. The incident occurred when three male suspects arrived at the victim’s home, resulting in an argument. One of the suspects shot the victim in the thigh, prompting the victim to return fire. Byers Jr. was apprehended near the suspect vehicle and charged with multiple offenses, including possession of a stolen firearm and intent to sell cocaine. (WGHP)
2. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office has revealed the identity of the driver responsible for a fatal crash involving a stolen vehicle, which claimed the lives of two teenagers. Joseph Brandon Smith, aged 29, was identified as the driver of the stolen 2004 silver Mercury Grand Marquis that collided with another car while traveling in the wrong direction on US-74. Smith, along with the two teenagers, tragically lost their lives in the crash. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol conducted an investigation into the incident and released the names of the teenage victims earlier in the week. (WFMY)
3. A new indoor entertainment complex called ParTee Shack has opened its doors in nearby Greensboro, occupying the former location of a Winn-Dixie store on S. Holden Road. The project was initiated by John Berger, a UNCG graduate, and his business partner. Having experienced success with a similar venture in Raleigh, Berger expressed his excitement to bring the family-oriented mini-golf and go-kart facility to the growing and vibrant community of Greensboro, citing the area’s strong family demographic and proximity to multiple universities as key factors in their decision.
