Trio of Diamond Dawgs Named to All-SEC Teams

One proficient trio of Mississippi State baseball student-athletes was named to numerous All-SEC Groups on Monday afternoon.

RJ Yeager, a second baseman who transferred from Mercer, was the one Diamond Dawg chosen to the First Workforce All-SEC. Catcher Logan Tanner was named to each the Second Workforce All-SEC and SEC All-Defensive Workforce. Hunter Hines was named to the All-SEC Freshman Workforce for his efforts as a delegated hitter and infielder. 

Regardless of spending only one season in maroon and white, Yeager made a big impact within the SEC. The graduate pupil had some struggles early within the 12 months however heated up heading into convention play. He completed the 2022 season with a team-high .317 batting common, 18 house runs, 15 doubles and 56 RBI.

Tanner was a dependable catcher for the Diamond Dawgs and confirmed why he’s projected to be an early decide within the 2022 MLB Draft. He totaled 59 hits on 207 at-bats with 38 RBI, 36 runs scored and 7 house runs. Defensively, Tanner was probably the greatest at his place within the nation with 458 putouts and a .990 fielding share. 

As a freshman, Hines lit up the Mississippi State offense. He served as a delegated hitter for almost all of the season with a couple of appearances at first base. The slugger out of Madison had a .300 batting common and totaled 63 hits, 53 RBI, 13 doubles, one triple and 16 house runs.
