Mississippi unveils new license plate design, and there’s not much to it

JACKSON, Miss. (WLOX) – After a lawsuit and practically 5 years of complaints about Mississippi’s normal license plate being “boring” or “soiled wanting,” a brand new design is on the best way. And it’s fairly primary.

Final November, the state kicked off a contest to revamp Mississippi’s normal license plate. In only one month, greater than 400 submissions got here in from throughout the state. The License Tag Fee (which is the Governor, Commissioner of Income, State Treasurer, and Legal professional Normal) picked the successful design, submitted by Leah Frances Eaton of Starkville.

“We had so many unbelievable designs submitted that it was actually robust to select just one winner,” stated Governor Tate Reeves. “The clear expertise and creativity of Mississippians was nicely on show. We’re excited to announce the brand new design and hope that drivers can get pleasure from showcasing it on highway journeys each close to and much.”

The brand new license plates will start being issued beginning with January 2024 renewals.

One person commented, “Matches each shade car. Easy, plain, straightforward to learn. Good distinction for simple identification in case of crime. Magnolia is symbolic of our state with out being too flashy or something. I prefer it.”

One other person stated, “I just like the magnolia, however it seems to be a bit outdated TBH.”
