Jeff Lebby and the Mississippi State football team are losing Steven Losoya to another SEC program as he heads back to his hometown.

With the Mississippi State football team bringing in Jeff Lebby, the Bulldogs are getting yet another new offense. And as such, with the Bulldogs changing offenses once again, it’s not a huge shocker that MSU football players on the offensive side of things might want to find a new place to call home.

Such is the case with Steven Losoya, who has apparently made up his mind on where he will be continuing his college football career.

Losoya announced Monday evening that he’d be taking his talents from Starkville, but he’s sticking around in the Southeastern Conference. A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Losoya is headed back to his hometown and will be playing for Clark Lea and the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Losoya took to X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter, to make his announcement. And he made it pretty clear:

Mississippi State football: Steven Losoya announces that he’s transferring to play for the Vanderbilt Commodores

While Losoya hasn’t been a member of the Mississippi State football team for a very long time, he did help anchor the Miss. State Bulldogs’ offensive line over the past couple seasons. He initially arrived in Starkville in January 2022 after getting his college football career started near his hometown.

Losoya played for the Middle Tennessee State University Blue Raiders at the start of his career and then later joined Mike Leach’s Bulldogs in the final season of the Air Raid in Starkville. And now, with the end of the Zach Arnett era and the start of the Jeff Lebby era, Losoya heads back home.

Honestly, being totally candid, this is a good move for Losoya and it might work out for Mississippi State as well.

Losoya now gets to stay in the SEC and he’ll be playing in his hometown as he tried to help Clark Lea make the Vanderbilt Commodores into a team worth celebrating. That’s kinda cool. And the Bulldogs are getting a fresh start on offense and will need to move in a different direction with personnel.

Good luck with what’s up ahead, Steven.
