Mississippi Red Snapper season opens Memorial Day weekend
BILOXI, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi’s Pink Snapper season will open for personal leisure anglers and state for-hire vessels at the beginning of the Memorial Day weekend. The season, starting at 12:01 a.m. Friday, will likely be open seven days per week in each state and federal waters, the Mississippi Division of Marine Assets stated. As with earlier years, a mid-season closure will happen July 4 to permit the division to compile landings data and study the potential for a season extension.
The season will shut if the annual catch restrict for leisure fishermen is projected to be reached at any level after the season opens. It can additionally shut if the Gulf-wide quota is reached.
